‘Membrey’s and Beyond Blue Initiative’
Rowan John Membrey, brother to 4 siblings, a son who had an abundance of parental love and a gifted BMX rider who touched the lives of thousands took his own life earlier this year. Surrounded by family and friends with a fulfilling and promising future, no one will ever know why.
With 20% of Australians suffering from depression, Rowans father Craig Membrey, Managing Director of Membrey’s Transport and Crane Hire has teamed up with Beyond Blue in an effort to raise awareness and let sufferers know there is help and they are not alone.
“Most sufferers do not realise they are depressed, with symptoms as small as fatigue affecting their everyday life. One of the biggest problems with depression is the fact it can go unnoticed til it’s too late. All of us are affected by depression directly or by someone around us. It is curable, there is help and we can prevent another life being taken away from us. By creating this awareness we can help bridge the gap for sufferers, family and friends with loved ones who are depressed and anyone who might be heading towards depression. I can’t change what happened, but I can help prevent another parent going through what I have since Rowan’s passing.” - Craig Membrey
In a tribute to his late son, Craig has had a T904 fully customized in a memorial for Rowan. Darren Voros, one of Craig’s closest friends and adopted uncle to Rowan has been working on Rowan’s truck for the past 4 months with the Truckers Toy Store team. It will be unveiled at the 2011 Castlemaine Truck Show and will be heading around Australia to promote Beyond Blues initiative.
“If Rowan’s truck can help or save the life 1 person, I’m a happy man” – Craig
