As our nation grows, the transport industry does as well...it has no choice.
With nearly 250,000 people employed by our industry, more drivers are getting behind the wheel putting more trucks on our roads. In return, more laws, legislations and scrutiny are placed on our drivers.
If log books, carbon tax and the RTA aren’t enough, the days and nights spent away from the home and family make this profession one of the most gruelling in the country.
The majority of a driver’s effort goes unheralded; with little if not no appreciation of the responsibility and duty a driver must perform, on the road and at home. Not to mention the up keep of a truck. Blown tyres, fried gear boxes, work site politics and missing their loved ones birthdays...all in a days work.
To all the drivers out there – We salute you.
Thank you for making sure we get to feed and clothe our kids, thank you for delivering building materials to house our families and thank you for your contribution for making Australia the best country in the world to live.
You are the true definition of grit and determination and are the backbone of our great country.
They say “Australia stops without trucks”. We say trucks stop without drivers”
